This past Monday totalled my 2004 FX4 with 194,000 miles on it. Other guys fault.
I am now shopping for a new one.
I am look at two:
2003 FX4, 160,000 miles, leather, loaded, new head gasket and ARP within past 20,000 miles, New HPOP, EGR Block off, turbo clean, etc. a few other things. Basically all the trouble spots - $14,000.00 oh, clean car fax
Or
2006 4x4 cloth 170,000 mostly loaded, clean car fax, maintenance history unknown - 12,000
what are the thoughts here.
I am driving a toyota corolla right now so probably will make decision tomorrow or Saturday.
I would go for the 03 myself cause I like the leafspring frontend better myself. The 06s has the redigned parts. As far as the egr delete goes that's a good guess. I dunno if the egr coolers where ever redigned. Your talking $2k between the the trucks. If you want the 06 buy it put an edge cts gauge only on it and monitor the eot/ects. It seems like when there's like 20 degs or something like that between the 2 there could be a problem. There's info in the 6.0 section on that.
There's after market egr coolers that fixes the problems that tje stock coolers have. Rcd and bulletproof are favorites on this forum board. I know 3 guys that has both brands. 2 bulletproofs and 1 rcd. If you like the newer truck at least its alittle cheaper leaving you alittle room to moddifi.
