which year cabs will fit on a '65

Hi,

I am working on a 1965 f250 custom cab for a friend. I'm a bit new to Fords and was wondering what year of cabs will interchange with it? There's rust through around the roof and in the front floorboards and cab mounts so I thought I'd see what might be close to me before I started cutting away on it.

Does anyone make a repop hood for these?

Thanks,
Jason

Jason: Only '65 and '66 cabs will interchange. (Note that '65 - '79 cabs will bolt up if you want to consider putting a Slick 60s cab on a later frame, but I don't think you mean that.)
FYI, and to avoid making a potentially expensive mistake in buying a parts truck, be aware that '61 - '64 trucks only look like the '65/'66 trucks. In '65, Ford made radical changes to the frame, steering, front axles, suspension, cab, engines transmissions and such, so that very little interchanges between the 2 styles.
No repop hoods.
Where in Kansas are you located? I hope you are away from that nasty weather!

Thanks for the info John.

I meant to also ask if anyone makes repop roofs for the '65 cab?

I'm in central Ks. Been missing most of the weather but my old stomping grounds are SE Ks and I spent a lot of time in Joplin while going to college in Pittsburg. We had some relatives there for graduation and they all made it, luckily.

Welcome to the gang, Jason. I hope you find those parts you need. We are sorry for those people in Joplin, we heard a graduate was pulled out of his car by the tornado, and hasn't been seen since. We're having all good thought's for that community.

1965/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD cabs are the same, do not have a step.

The following have a step: 1965 F100/250 4WD, 1966 F250 4WD.

Hey Bill just wondered if you were aware that the 65F100 4x4 has a 65 66 roof line with a 61-64 floor pan. Kind of a morphadite cab. Would that be the same cab on the bigger trucks from 61-66?

Buzz...if I read your post correctly you mention a later cab with the earlier florrpan...thats a 4WD and medium duty truck floorpan for the most part...by 'step' Bill is referring to the door sill...in the 61-4 and 65-6 F250 4WD and 65 F100 4WD cabs ALL have the deeper step/sill area...with raised ribs and curved ends. The 65-6 2WD cabs and 66 F100 4WD cabs have a narrower step thats about 1/2 the depth of the other type of step and the 2WD step is flat also with no raised areas.

As to the roof, the only difference Im aware of is with the integral bodied trucks which as I recall dont have the 2 strengthening creases like the non integral bodied trucks.

Sorry CS65 I meant to say is that the same cab on the 65 and 66 larger trucks. I should not have said 61-66. Im keeping an eye out for a cab for a 65 F100 4x4 and was wondering is that the same cab used on the bigger trucks for 65 and 66. It appears to have same floor pan as my 63 F250 but with the as you say nonintegeral roof line. So did some of the bigger trucks get this cab also. If so F^^^ through F^^^. Thanks for your help.

The cab assy is the same as the following for your 65 F100 4X4:

61-64 F100-250 4X2(81)
61-65 F100 4X4(81)
61-66 F250 4X4(81)
61-66 F350-600(81)
61 F700 (81) before serial number 170,001

The skeleton cab p/n is C6TB810001R

61 to 63 regular cabs have the same roof as integral bodied trucks. IE a low profile roof.

64 is the first year for the new taller roof with reinforcement on all light duty cabs.

Thanks for the input there Garbz but my question still has not been answered as it pertains to a 65 f100 4x4. Let me think on how to refrase the question and then ask again. I dont think Im stating it properly. What cab on the larger trucks will be an exact replacement for the cab on my 65 4x4. It has the floor pan of the 61-63 with the inside step and the cab top of a 64-66 with the 2 gusset lines on the top of the cab as you state the taller cab.

Garbz CS65 maybe I should be asking is there a larger Fseries truck cab from 64-66 that would be an exact replacement for the 4x4 style cab that is the mix of both old floor pan and newer roof on my 65 4x4. thanks again.

Thats the 4WD cab I mentioned...a friend of mine had a 64...roof ribs and the deeper door steps...the 4WD cabs and 64 and prior cabs also have a straight lower dash at the steering column vs the 65-6 2WD and 66 F100 4WD cab which has a circular section stamped in it the steering column mates to.
The 4WD cabs and 1tons additionally have the battery located in a tray on the outside of the frame rail accessed through a removable lid in the RH floor.
