Hi everyone, I am new to this site and looking forward to all the info avail. Does anyone know how to go about getting a title for a 47 ford pickup when you don't have one. I picked up this truck about 4yrs ago at a swap meet and there was no title to it. I am finally ready to start taking it apart but want to make sure I can get a title first. Also, how do I identify this truck, It has a v8, 17inch wheels. Are there any companys who have catologs of parts for this year. all I seem to be able to find start at 48 and go newer. Any help will be gratful. Thanks. Jim
First, check with your local dmv to see what's req'd where you are. Around here if they're not in the computer you just apply for a replacement title. Having a bill of sale is always a good idea. Really varies from state to state.
Find macsautoparts.com on the web and request their free 32-48 catalog as it covers cars and trucks.
Check too, on Sacramento Vintage Auto Parts - good service and reasonable prices.
And of course, look at motorhaven here on this site. They have a growing parts list and its good to be able to support FTE as much as we can.
I see by your profile that you're from Wisconsin. I was told by the guy we picked up our 41 from that if we couldn't get a title here in Fla. to find a friend in Wisconsin cause that's the easiest State he's ever seen for titling a vehicle.
As Mtflat said, check with your local DMV to find out what you need then go from there. If you can't find anything out, let us know and I'll check with Arlan to see what steps he's taken in the many resto's he's done.
I beleive that here in Texas the car must be inspected and under insurance to get the title first. A bill of sales is also required without a title. I'd check to make sure the thing wasn't stolen in it's past life to begin with.
