07 5.4 Engine Swap
This is actually an Expedition but I figured I'd get more hits here as its the same basic layout. Swapping in a used low mileage 5.4. I've done plenty of swaps but not on this motor. A few things I could use help on. Where is the best spot to attach the hoist to pull it, so much aluminum looks weak, thinking of trying to grab the cast iron block where the intake sets on from and back, but the back won't work because the tranny will set against it, I do have the intake off, should I be aware of any issues with that cooling tube under the intake before I put the intake back on and last but not least what is the procedure to drop the distributor in and time these motors ? Thanks for any help in advance !

Can't help with lift points . I would suspect its best to remove intake /throttle body assembly because its plastic .
There is no distributor its mechanical timing chains and crank position sensor to pcm . The pcm determines the cops firing and the injectors pulses from the position of the crank tone wheel . Pcm supplies ground to cop and injectors at the right time and it controls the vct solenoid to pulse oil to the cam phasors to adjust cam position at a fast rate .Which is why you must keep engine oil clean or it will fail to control cams and sludge up with combustion carbon .
