You have to look at trucks in the junkyard from about 1983-up. The 1980 to about 83 had 351m's. After that they started putting 351w's in. The one I found had the dipstick in the pan. This is the one you want(maybe all of them were that way?). You will have to plug your front dipstick tube you have now. When you get the pan, also get the extended pick-up tube and the main cap stud that goes with it. The main cap stud supports the long tube, because the oil pump stays up front, but it has to pickup the oil from the rear. I paid $60.00 for mine.

Go to www.car-part.com and plug in a 84 pickup with 351w and where you live, and you should be able to find some junkyards that have it.

Thanks Dave,do you think I can use the pick up tube from the 302 or do I need to get the one from the 351w.I have the 302 torn down and was expecting to buy a new oil pump but thought I could use the tube.Learn a little more every day.
