HELP!!!!! 79 F100 460 Project

Hows it going. I got my hands on a 79 F100 step side with a 460 swap. the truck starts and runs. I was able to drive it on and off the trailer and pull it into my garage. The guy who owned it did a good job with the install but ran out of steam and left his "temporary" connections for me to sort out. They arent a big deal at all, but i have read a dozens sites and repair manuals and i cannot get a clear answer. I hope y'all can help me to have this beast running.

1) He installed a new Holley 4 barrel with electric choke. He didnt connect the choke. I know i need a 12 v source for the + side but what is the best location to get this 12v power from? Some manuals i have seen show to just run it from behind the alternator. others show to run it off the starter solenoid. I have read that off the ignition is best, on the ACC wire. I think this is best, but what wire is it. I am thinking i can just look under the dash and find it.

2)He told me that he just threw the distributor and coil into the motor to hear it run. the coil is just thrown on top of the intake, doesnt bother me because i will be getting a bracket to hold it. The problem i have is the way he temporary wired it to run. The negative lead on the coil is running to the distributor, the positive lead is hooked to an on/off switch that is then hooked up to the positive battery. So to start the truck i have to open the hood, hit the switch to ON, then go into the cab and turn the key. To turn it off, i have to go back under the hood and hit the switch to OFF. How does this affect the coil. How should the coil be wired so that the truck will cut on with the key.

Please forgive me if these are questions that have been repeated.
