If the truck was manufactured in Missouri you can almost bet that it has 10% Ethanol in it. State law mandates that all gasoline sold in Missouri have at least 10% Ethanol in it. But i still get 18-21mpg on Mo gas so its all good to me.

My truck came with about 3 gallons of gas and the other 33 gallons were put in by the dealer.

I know this is the F150 section but today my 2011 F350 averaged 19 mpg on a 100 mile trip with a little city driving. Maybe Ford is trying appeal to the public more by producing more economical trucks

The government makes more off a gallon of gas than the oil companys do for doing little but alowing the oil companys to explore, drill, transport ,refine and transport to the consumer. It get taxed several times along the way by state and federal gov.If the tax the oil companys more they will make more off them and the price just gets raised to the consumer. They love trying to make the consumer hate buisiness when goverment is a very big part of the problem.

Nail meet head! Take Mo and Ks for example, you can look at two gas stations, both on opposite sides of State Line Rd in KC (one in Mo one in Ks) the one in Ks is on average 10cents per gal more all the time because of higher taxe

Seems to me that both the 5.0 and the Ecoboost are better engines than the 5.4 and they should be because thats a result of improving technology. That said, it takes some time to determine maintenance issues and longevity. IMO, we know about the 5.4 as being quite good in that area. Looks like performance and miles per gallon are better in the newer engines. Many of us were faced with the decision of ordering a 2010 with about 10K off the sticker or waiting for the 2011 at a greater price with the better engines. I took the 10K and am willing to accept the 1-2 MPG difference and the 0-60 better times(probably don't care about that one).

If my 5.4 gets 16MPG overall compared to 18 for the Ecoboost and the 5.0 and I drive 10,000 miles per year; the difference in costs is $280/year @ $4/gal. It would take one 35 years to recoup the $10,000 cost difference.

WOW !!! 20 MPG, I just got 11.1 on the last tank. Oh wait a minute!!! I had a 27 ft fifth wheel behind me !!! LOL. Without that "backpack" behind me, I get about 17.8 average (we live 15 miles from town, so there's hardly ever any "in town only" mileage) Overall, I get nearly the same on this 2010 5.4 FX4 as I did on my 2005 Ranger FX4 with the 4.0 and 5 speed automatic. I'm amazed at how much more power the F150 gets over the Ranger with almost the same mileage. Towing my Bass Tracker TX175, the Ranger only got about 13 MPG at 65. I get close to that with the fifth wheel in tow. WOW !!!

Like some others, I couldn't justify the extra cost for the 2011 model, bought a closeout 2010 for about $10K less. The only thing I wish I had was the ability to lock out gears when in tow/haul. I still can't get used tt the up/down shifting, it just makes me think "OVERHEAT" !!!!!

OK i was looking for mileage but it would seem my mileage is still the same by my hand calculations now it appears my sea foam didn't help but my gauge cluster is going wacky. ill be going along and my temp/mpg and all the other things i can monitor will jump ten to twenty numbers and nothing has changed out side the truck. told my service tech and he made me an appointment and said it needed a new calibration!

Hmmmmm might have got some of that Sea Foam in the electrons and messed up the cluster electronics. Never can tell about Sea Foam ROFLMAO

push the reset button, that might clear out the "Foamtrons" and get things working again <wink> LOL
