I am very happy for the gentleman that has over a million miles on his 2002. I am very happy with the ride of my 2004 that I bought as a second owner. I got it with 167 thousand miles and drove it around before taking it on my first trip. It broke down on the way back and it was repaired by Gurly Ford Motor Company in Gallop, NM.. It has not ran right since, they over charged 2 new batteries, broke the exhaust to turbo pipe, dropped a screw in the thermostat, broke off 3 bolts ( 1 on the valve cover and 2 on the High pressure oil rail ) stripped 1 bolt on the oil rail. dropped a 1/4 ratchet with 10mm socket down by the starter which later engaged the starter and burned it out, left tools and other parts in the engine compartment, swapped out my new style vaccum pump for a broke older style and bent a wheel on the right rear duel. Ford says they won't help cause Gurly is an independent company and of course Gurly won't admit that their mechanic was sloppy. I have put another 6 grand total into repairing this thing. And I am not done with the repairs, the rear end feels like it has a broken ring or pinion gear and the transmission has developed an issue. Now bare in mind this thing had tons of power and was getting 18mpg, now I get 13mpg and have a hard time pulling my 26ft boat, much less my 35ft 5th wheel. and when I tow the 5th wheel I get 6mpg, the same as my old 94 Ford F-250 with a 7.5. Now I am thinking that I should have bought the Duramax which was only 20 grand.
Again I am happy for the guy with over a million miles and like I said I am happy with the ride and comfort, but is it really worth trying to repair all that they screwed up? I figure I may still have to put another grand or so into it or I could be left on the side of the road again.
