03 f350 5.4 died while driving then fires right back up and seemed fine. Left work and a mile down the road died. Thought my serpentine belt went. Lost power steering and everything. Got out belt / oil/ all obvious was fine. Started her right back up and made it the next 7 miles home ok. Didn't sputter or anything when it died. Cleaned maf not to long ago.I did have to add a couple gallons of fuel from a portable conainer while in my driveway to get me to the gas station the other day , some air passed while doing so. Could that be it? Confused? Ideas? Fuel pump?air in fuel line? Ran 100% good immediately after. Gunna check fuses tonight.
Similar thing happened to me a week or so ago, only I have an '03 F250 7.3. Not sure how similar the wiring harnesses are, but mine turned out to be chaffed wires on the left valve cover. 4 hours of Ford Dealer labor repaired it and runs fine now.
k
Most the similar posts I've read have been with the 7.3 or 6.0. I was thinking chaffed wiring. Maybe in the steering colomn effecting the ignition? I replaced my fuel filter not long ago , maybe the unit was defective or plugged? Checked and replaced some fuses and cleaned the maf again this morning. Hmmmmm. We'll see if it happens again I guess?

No hasn't happened again. I'm calling it an air bubble too. Hoping at least. Been running it to and from work and at night since and it's been all good. Seems to idle fine and run fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed and post again if it happens again. Thanks fellas
If it was the fuel pump it wouldn't restate seconds later I wouldn't think. Seems the cps (camshaft position sensor) or cmp as ford calls it does exactly this when it begins to go. Picking 1 up in the morning. Replaced the fuel filter again after work just in case. Looks like the cps it is.
Just happened again! Replaced fuel filter , got rid of the k&n air filter and put in a fram, replaced the camshaft position sensor. And cleaned the maf. Just happened again 10 mins ago. Same thing fired right back up and ran fine as usual. Maybe I have some contaminated fuel???? I'm Gunna try and locate a gauge and test the fuel pressure tomorrow. WTF
No cel but Gunna scan it in the am. I thought maf problems would just make her run awful and throw the cel light. Hmmmmm.let ya know in the morning. ??????
It has been suggested earlier . You need to have a "fuel pressure" test ( both idling and underload ) . I am guessing , idling may be 30-35 psi , underload may be 40-45 psi . As said earlier by others , symptoms like a fuel-pump going south . Good luck
