Ignition troubles

I just rebuilt the 2.9 in my 88 Bronco II. As it turns out I did not have the distributor cap on correctly and broke the rotor when I first started it. It only ran for 20 seconds or so before the rotor failed. I replaced the rotor only to find the pickup in the distributor was also damaged. I then replaced the entire distributor with a rebuilt one. So now I am sitting with a rebuilt distributor, new control module, rotor, cap, wires, and coil. I now find myself with no spark. Lost at this point I changed out the computer just to make sure, still no spark. Started going over the whole thing and found a couple of flakey wires even though new so replaced them with another set. The engine starts and runs for about two minutes and dies, no spark again. The distrubutor turns and the coil has power, the control module has power, the wire between the control module and the coil checks good.
I am lost, any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the length of the post just wanted to give as much information as i could.

This exact thing happened to me and like you I picked up a rebuilt distributor only to find out the pickup in the rebuilt unit was bad (what are the odds) so I took the distributor back and got another rebuilt, made sure the timing marks where right, inserted the distributor and presto, it started right up. Rebuilt or new doesn't always gaurantee good and running. Also, unplug your battery and while both positive and negative completely off and away from battery terminals touch the two to reset the computer (though some would argue that by disconnecting battery you've reset computer but the ford techs tell me different...doesn't hurt to try). Good luck and let us know if kicks.
