2002 Ford Escape (6cyl) AWD

Hey guys I was driving home today and the trans just seemed to bog down. O/d started flashing and was shifting funny when i was driving 50-55. So I slowed and got to about 20 and touched the gas and it responded better than the 2 or 3 times I tried to hit the gas at 55. I got it back up to 55 and it seemed fine but the o/d light was still blinking. So I finally got hom e (with relief) and put it into park. I shut it off and restarted and went to shift it to drive and it was kinda hard (lil harder than normal almost like you were parked on a hill downward) so I left it in reverse.... it went forward in reverse....it went forward in nuetral..... it played nice and stayed in park. Now I'm sure 99% you say the trans is smoked but could it be electronics or something???? Also have had it since 150,000 and it has 168,000 on it now. Got a new fly wheel before I purchased it also if that means or helps.
