Help P0316

Truck started running rough, but only on acceleration. I received the check engine light and when i had the code read at auto zone all i got was the P0316. Coils and plugs were all changed in the winter. I have cleaned the MAF. But problem it still there. O and it is not consistant sometime it runs perfect.
Thank you for all your help

P0316 means there is an engine misfire in the first 1000 revolutions after start up. Most of the time this is due to the crank shaft position sensor going bad.

Thank you Alloro. I have already changed the crank position sensor, but it did not change the symptom, guess i should have put that in my original post. Recomended by the guy at AZ. He also stated that the throttle position senson, i dont get that one, and dont want wast $$ throwing parts at the truck. Funny thing is it started after i filled the tank, i had run it real low. Is it possible bad gas??

Is it hard to start after it's been sitting a long time, like overnight?

No. Starts right up. No stalling. Just shakes like a miss once i put a load on it, even mild acceleration.

Is this an "03 Expy? With the 5.4?

How full is the fuel tank when it acts up?

When was the last time the tank was filled?

Have you ever changed your fuel filter?

Did you check the solder joints on your instrument cluster?

Is the odometer still not working?

Still showing "MI" in the message center?

What PDQFORD said, an inexpensive item to change is the fuel filter.

Huh! Is there another relevant thread that is part of this problem?

WOW pdqford that was from a thread that i posted a while back. But to answer your questions.
Yes 03 Expy 5.4
Yes checked solder points
Yes have changed fuel filter when i tuned up this past winter
Yes still getting "ERROR MI" in message center
Issue seems to have started two weeks ago with a full tank, i have not filled since have about quarter tank left.

Alloro that thread i posted was last year sometime to which i never had resolved, but is unrelated here. I think! If its related it would be a great coincidence. Your input would be greatly appreciated in that as well.

Oh, okay. (I wasn't sure if this was the same vehicle that was having instrument cluster problems (that alloro suggested that the cold solders be checked). I was concerned that if you were still having cluster problems and message center problems your low fuel warning light and/or fuel gauge might not be giving you proper info as to the amount of fuel in the tank.

Glad to hear that the fuel issues were resolved.

In that case, I'd look for a vacuum leak. Did you check the famous PCV elbow? The IAC gasket? The EGR gasket? Or anything else that may have been disturbed when you did your tune up.

Often this is the result of a bad check valve within the fuel pump assembly. If it leaks, it allows the fuel line to drain back into the tank. This results in a delay at startup due to the fuel line having to refill.

OK guys im still having the issue. Finally got another code, P0303, it only took as 1200 mile trip, and the code wasnt hard it was pending. So i changed the coil once i got to my destination. Still missing, no pending codes this time. Im gonna try and find some more tools and change the plug. The annoying thing is i changed them all over the winter.

Connect a fuel pressure gauge for the first start of the day and see if it takes a bit for the pressure to come up. If it does, replace the fuel pump.
