Hey that truck looks real nice, good luck with the dual moffler.

I dont have anything from the Headers flange, so new pipes adn new pair of mufflers are requiered, I'm still trying to figure what moffler is convenient for this truck,,I dont want to much noise,,but a low sport sound....tips will go on front of the rear tire than, wit a nice tip on each side.

How is you engine handling the newer rear end gears,,I niticed that you put a smaller gear on it, you mut be geting nice RPM on the HWY, may be not much power,,,but,,for highway who needs it...

That will be another thing that I may change,,I got some hig gear in the rear end, so I'll start looking for a smaller rear member assambly with a lower ger,,like yours, or even smaller since I do have the 302 engine.

thanks for sharing Wills1966F100.

Thanks militos! I think I will do the same thing you are doing with the dual exhaust. Let me know which muffler you decide to go with. I saw a real nice fifties Belair yesterday with dual exhaust going straight out the back with nice chrome tips. I was checking it out. He was jacked up a little. It looked good but a lot of pipes. My truck is lowered and it just seems better to stay in front of the rear tires.

I do a lot of highway driving. My rear end is 3.25:1 off a parted 1966 F100 and it's kind of the best all around choice for me (I also have a 2.75:1). I can take off fully loaded and also do 60-70 mph at or below 3000 rpm still getting good fuel economy. But I think your toploader imposter has overdrive which means you can get away with higher rear end gear ratios if that's all you have on hand; provided the following quote is true,

"It is important to also know that truck versions of these overdrive toploader imposters exist and sometimes cannot be told apart by someone who is not knowledgable. They use larger front and rear bearings and a large front bearing retainer. They came in cast iron, the SROD alloy configuration, and as a top cover shifted or tower shift design mainly in 4 wheel drive Broncos.

Ratio #1: 3.01 1st, 1.78 2nd, 1.00 3rd, 0.79 4th and 3.01 Rev.
Ratio #2: 3.25 1st, 1.92 2nd, 1.00 3rd, 0.78 4th and 3.25 Rev."

60 - 70 miles per hour at under 3000RPm sounds good for a six cylinder with the 3.

I still have to test this whole thing once I get everything together, hope I get some real good RPM at Highway speeds.

for now, I'm taking a break again,,got to many projects,ha,ha,ha, I need to make sure that my commute car runs good (1978 Datsun B210). working on a 74 260Z, so, little by little I'll get this truck running properly and safe again.

Have a nice one Wills1966F100
tomorrow is monday,,hag!!

I have 27 inch tires so with the C4 and 3.25:1 rear end; at 60 mph I am at 2427 RPM, and 70 mph 2831 RPM. I'm happy with that for now. I think I paid $150 for the whole rear end, but then I put new brakes on it so $200. Good luck with the Datsun projects. I think the headers and dual exhaust is the next F100 project for me so let me know what mufflers you get.

Happy 2012 every one.

Well Hi havent work on my truck since the last posting, ha,ha.

and by the way, the Drive shaft was 4" short..so that's what I/m working on right now, I found a larger Shaft with a friend,,the shop says that is like $100 dolars chipper to shrothen than to enlarge the drive shaft.

Today I made some modifications to the Transmission croos member, drilled some holes for the bran new transmission mount, and got new screws for everything.

Tomorrow I'm planning to install the cross member.

FOr some reason some one put the wrong exhaust manifolds on this truck, they put a pair of those truck headers,,and I noticed that teh collectors end,,was rubbing real bad on one of the frame cross members and this caused the egine and trans to be at a diferent angle ,,,,(the manifolds were carring the waight of the Engine as they rested on teh cross member.

Happy new year again, and will keep and update.

Thanks.

thanks militos

I don't have the money to do anything with mine right now due to the holidays and being one of Santa's helpers and what not. So I haven't done anything with my headers yet.

It sounds like you will be headed back to the yard to pick and pull some exhaust manifolds? For a 302 they should be pretty easy to find. After you get the drive-train and exhaust sorted out your truck is going to run quite a bit better. Happy New Year!
