Eratic Speedometer
I was driving home the other day and I noticed my speedometer bouncing around randomly. This is a brand new problem in my 2001 f250 v10 and I don't know what to do about it. Any recommendations?

I had a simular problem on my 95 Bronco. I took it to an Auto Electric shop and they found no codes or anything wrong. Took it to a trans shop and the guy said I needed a new transmission. I finnaly took it to a Speedo Shop. They found the problem right away. Bad speedometer.

I had that happen to my 2000 F250, it was the sensor in the rear end that reads the speed via the gears. It's a magnetic pickup; I took it out and cleaned a few metal shavings off it put it back together and that fixed it. Mine was mounted on the top of the pig towards the front; it's easy to find, it has a wire connected to it to send a signal back to the speedometer.
