Almost all Ford gasoline pick-up engines take 6 quarts. There are a few rare exceptions. I've seen one that held 5 and several that held 7. Just add five, run the engine, check for leaks, then pull the dipstick and check the oil level if you aren't sure.

My 400 takes 9 quarts. Not only does my truck love gas, it also loves oil , PO added a bigger oil pan for cooling--or so he told me anyway.

When I change oil I put almost one qt in the new filter before it goes on, and 5 down the valve cover. The left over amount from the filter will get added with the rest.
