6637 Question

I have a question about the 6637 Kit from Riff Raff. I just looked at their kit, which lists for $77. Not bad until you add the $14 fee for the mandrel bent adapter, and the the $18.85 shipping. This puts it over $100. Now, when I look back at the pieces, filter $29, Cover $35 total $64. their kit price is already $13 more, not including the extra $14 fee for the adapter. Is the adapter really $27? I'm not bashing anyone, just trying to clarify matters for myself.

Id pay $30 for mandrel bent, powdercoated pipe as opposed to pvc or a "rust ready" but that's me. Others wouldn't, to each their own...

There is a difference in the adapter that you are getting based on pre or post 99 which adds the $14 and there is also a t-clamp included. Maybe that doesn't account for all of it, but Clay usually only charges the actual shipping too, so the initial shipping is more of a quote.

I dunno, when I look at a coupla bucks for a guy to make a living and the quality of service I get from him, I usually don't give too much of a hoot. He's a one-man show, not a big evil corporation.

Last year he personally delivered an intercooler and other parts for me. (My brother lives pretty close to him.) He didn't have to do it, but he did. That sort of service keeps me coming back.

Better to ask

The mandrel pieces cost us $21, we have to cut them to length and then take them for powder coating which runs about $9-$10 each depending on how large of quantity. Since we usually ship 50-60 kits per month I often ask my self why we do it, but when I see how much other places charge for everything I figure it is something to give back to the brotherhood

I really do apologize if it sounded like I was bashing Riff Raff or anything like that? I do understand that this is a good product and a good company to deal with. I was honestly just trying to clarify the prices for myself. Very sorry if I offended anyone, that was not my intention. I will be ordering the KIT very soon.

Heck no, you didn't offend anyone. You don't know until you ask...

Clay, how often should the 6637 be changed. I got the kit from you last October and use the truck a fair bit in the high desert.

Thanks

BTW, the kit is totally worth it. I like to drive by sound and now I can hear the turbo whistle which gives me a clue how much boost is going on. I don't have gauges yet. I'm just getting it to breathe better on the exhaust side as well for now.

Enjoy

I recently got the filter kit, and to anybody who is on the fence about it, I say get it. I'm very pleased with my kit and I will definitely be ordering more things from Clay in the future.

Wondering if what I see on the Riffraff website is all you carry? wondering if you have a separate catalog or .pdf perhaps of other items that may be for the 1994.5 to 1997 PSD OBS?

I'm just wanting to add to the wish list ya know

Thanks

It largely depends on your conditions. I would not let it go much more than a year.

Easy way to visually tell is put a drop light inside it and see how much light escapes. When new they glow like a chinese lantern, and after 8-10K there is very little light that can be seen.
