1952 Flathead Oil Pan
I need some help. I am replacing a oil pan gasket and rope seals on a 1952 flathead 239. After I push the rope seals in place, do I cut them short, cut them flush, over leave some sticking out of the channel. Thanks, Bob

They should protrude about 1/16" on each side AFTER you've rolled it in as deep as you possibly can. If you have a piece of steel about 2" diameter, a pipe or something like that, rolling it around and around helps seat it all the way.
