What the....?

I asked a rather simple question with pictures, and that was "Which instrument cluster do YOU like best?" The two choices are given right there in the poll: 1980 - 1984 Rosewood or the 1985 - 1986 Burlwood. This isn't rocket science, this is supposed to be a FUN poll! If you want your weave cluster or *more* choices, then make up your own poll with whatever choices you wish.

Ummm...get this...in ANY poll there has to be parameters, right? Why do you think I took the time to post two very distinct pictures of the only two different styles of wood grain instrument clusters that was used on the 1980 -1986 F150s? If you want to be difficult and split hairs, I personally think the 1985 Ford Mustang has one of the best looking instrument clusters ever. It would be kind of silly for me to put that as one of the choices in this poll, now wouldn't it?

Perhaps the title/question should have asked which woodgrain cluster you do you like better? Then, it would have been asking a more specific question, and show from the beginning that it was only asking about the optional woodgrain trim.

When you read the thread, view the pictures, and the look at the choices given, any person with common sense can see that is exactly what I was asking.

I don't know, I thought it was fairly simple. Seems like looking at 2 different cluster offered in own model trucks, simple.

Not quite. It may have been what you wanting to ask, but did make it a specific question.
As the way the question was asked, my answer would be the XLS brushed aluminum bezels, with the DIN radio option.
The way the question was *intended* is how I answered in my first post. The rosewood looks better, but the burlwood is the only (factory) DIN radio option.
I just chose to not place a vote, due to the limited options, and stated why I did not vote......

The question posed in the thread title clearly says "which instrument cluster do YOU like best?" Where "you" = me, I prefer the XLS style best....

And now we return you to your regularly schedualed programing.

That's a really nice set you are selling, ri_truck_guy. What did these come off of? It's rare to find a set like this that haven't faded to a purple hue by now.

They came off a really nice 85 F150 XL a guy was parting out...blown engine if I recall correctly. I bought the whole dash. It was an old man's driver. They just need a good cleaning...no scratches or fading.

I just thought it was pretty funny this conversation comes up when I had a set for sale...

I personally prefer the Rosewood, for the reasons stated in the first few posts. That and because that's what Ranger Lariats had.

lol.

I never could quite figure out what the Rosewood wood grain reminded me of, but your description is PERFECT!

I like the Rosewood better because it looks good in my 1981 XLT. My dash appears to
be darker than the picture of the Rosewood dash in this thread and I think that is more
attractive.

I would have to say the burlwood for me. The rosewood is just a touch shiny for my liking. Of course my burlwood has kind a strange purple hue to it that defies cleaning.
I think the burlwood would look better with your recently restored door panels as well.

As stated earlier I like the rosewood the best. That being said I think it all depends on what interior color you have but however thats not what the poll is asking. I agree with Lariat85, Its pretty strait forward what hes asking, and its suppoed to be a fun poll thats all, so lighten up on him boys.

Thanks, Chief. Every forum has one, I guess Rogue_Wulff is ours.

Thanks, ebodell. I guess that is ultimately what I am trying to find out. I do like the Rosewood wood grain, but I think I am going to stick with the Burlwood for my own truck.

What do you think about the chrome accents on the 1980 - 1984 Rosewood versus the more modern "blackout" look of the 1985 - 1986 Burlwood? Do you think the later Burlwood cluster would look better with the chrome accents that the earlier Rosewood one has?
