need to lower egts

I have a 95 that has stage 2s, modded 17 hpop, dominator 66 turbo, and a ts chip. I need to get my egts lower on hard pulls. Wondering what everyones take on water meth vs intercooler. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well they both lower egt's around 200 degrees, but the water/meth kit may be easier to install than an IC. Steve just added it to his truck and Glenn has had it for little while too. heres a link to steves thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-meth-kit.html

For sure an intercooler first, especially if you're towing with it

Intercooler first. It cools all the time...

Water/meth will only cool when you need it. Do the intercooler, then if you need more cooling, water meth is a good option...

Wink

Agree with the IC first. Also maybe you want to reburn your chip to other programs that decreases the EGTs.

I put an all aluminum 99 model intercooler in my 97 F-250 Powerstroke and I couldn't be happier.

The install is a little involved, but not too bad. If you're sourcing the parts out used and not going with a "bolt-on" kit like Banks, your biggest obstacle is the cooler pipes. You'll either have to completely fab them out of 3" exhaust tubing, or find a set of fatory 99-03 pipes,.......but you'll have to cut, weld & modify those as well.

Great use of the search!!!

My first problem I see is running the edge. I ran an Edge CTS I won for a week and absolutely hated it. Smokey with stock 90cc injectors and loud injectors. My egt's were high with no IC. My chip run much smoother and better.

The gauge could be bad or you have a boost leak. Is it the stock exhaust straight?

I'm always up for pics Steve. I'm hoping to set up a water injection system this winter.
