Transfer Case - Red Drip Getting Annoying!

Ok so I am going to start a thread I know I'll be finishing soon... with pics to boot!

I have a extra 1345 (or 1356??) transfer case. I thought it was a 1356 but RockAuto lists the 1345 (guess the 1356 is a 92 and up model?)...

Anyhow, I have zero speedometer movement now, and a persistant red drip between the zf tranny and transfer case. I am going to rebuild/refurb the spare t-case and have it ready to go in. I want to swap them in 1hr and have minimal down time on the truck... I'm not sure yet what I'll have to replace besides the front and rear seals, and the 2 plastic gears that run the speedo...

I was thinking of getting a Timken TCRK1345 Overhaul kit but was unsure as to the contents of the kit. Anyone used a T-case over haul kit before? Also will I need any specialty tools?

Thanks guys... Once I am done I can write up a "how to" thread on this. I think i have a download with detailed instructions but am unsure where I saved it too...

Also I can't remember who asked me...???? But I have the pics now for the Power Steering Pump replacement that I did in Thumper yesterday so keep an eye out for a thread on "How To" replace a power steering pump!

Also i have decided that the rebuilt transfer case will get RP ATF so I ever get a drip again I can tell what is dripping... IF purple in color it's the transfer case... IF red it's the synthetic Red Line ATF in the ZF leaking.

I have a 1356 in my '87, so you certainly could have one in your '88.
Just read the # cast into the housing.

I would open it up to check the condition of the chain and rub blocks before just ordering the seals and bearings.
