I have been having what feels like surging issues. It only does this when towing or the truck is loaded. Never feel it empty.
It happens at 1750-1800 RPM, 110Km/hr and pulling a grade. All my gauges stay steady. RPM, Speed, EGT, FP, Boost.
Its done this for quite sometime. Yesterday was really bad & I switched tunes and its still there even with 2 different tow tunes by different writers.
Anything I can check or tear into to see what may fix this issue. Other than surging/ bucking when towing the truck runs great.
It does this with tow haul ON or OFF. Never have any codes.
Its almost like it doesnt know what gear to be in. If I'm towing with cruise on it seems worse. Wont downshift and just keeps pullng up the hills without kicking down. Then starts to shudder. If I control throttle and get out and then back into the throttle when climbing it kicks down a gear & doesnt surge/ buck.
Never see smoke out the pipe when it does this either. So I dont know what to check.
What would a stuck turbo act like? Or what does a bad tranny/ shift servo act like.
I know you said "NEVER any codes". Did you actually put a OBDII code puller on it or are you saying it doesn't have the "wrench" lite (CEL) showing. Just because you don't have a CEL, doesn't mean there are NO CODES.
No Codes & I use the SCT to check.
I stopped by the dealer yesterday and asked the quesion what was up with my truck.
They have had a few that do this. The mechanic says he has seen it with BullyDog programers. The tranny wants to downshift but the truck computer says it has extra HP so power through. This causes the quick shudder that is felt. Made sense to me when he explained it. But could be all smoke up the **** to!!
I will pull the EGR and check that, but I do run Diesel Kleen every tank.
I'm also getting in touch with my tune writer and see if we can fix the issue.
Will update when I find the cure.
No, I'm running custom tunes with an SCT. The dealer said he has seen this problem with BullyDog.
I read the comments on this site and take all the info I can. First thing I did when getting a Tuner. NO BULLYDOG!
