Charge Line
I just bought a used 2000 Ford F150 XLT 4X4 supercab, which I think has the factory tow package. Looks like the factory hitch and light plug.
My problem is that after probing the light plug for a constant +12V with the truck running I could not find one. I believe the bottom left (when staring into the plug) should be the charge line but there is no voltage present.
Is there a fuse or something that has to be added to make the charge line "active"?
One other question, I found the connector under the dash to the right of the steering column which I believe is for an electric brake controller.
Is there an adaptor cable that can be bought from Ford to be used to hook up a brake controller without cutting wires, or do different brake controller manufacturer's come with the proper plug already installed?
Thanks,
Chad
Looking into the plug on your truck, it should be the clip on the top-right (1 o'clock position). The bottom left is normally the ground clip. Hope you get it working.
If you're using a multitester to check for voltage, put the ground probe on the lower left and the hot probe on the top right and see if that gives you anything.

Turns out the fuse in the dash fuse panel was there and good, the 30 Amp Maxi fuse was there and good under the hood, but the relay was missing!
Popped a relay in and it seems to work great now!
Thank-you all for the tip's and advise.
