Is this normal?

My truck is running consistently 10-12 degrees hotter in ECT's and EOT's. My previous temps were about 192 and 194 respectively.
I had taken my truck in when i first noticed the increase in temp to find that it was low on coolant. I had the coolant filled, and now its low again. This was no more than two weeks ago.
Im not hauling or ******* the truck, just driving as i normally would to school and around town.
Is this kind of temp increase a big deal, and if so, what could be causing it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

since you keep losing coolant and heating up sounds like a bad egr cooler
or head gasket issue

That's what i'm afraid of..
Im on my second egr and 18,000 miles past warranty..
I just dont see what else it could be with the loss of coolant.

ECT's used to be 192 very consistently while EGT's were usually 192-194.
Now more than 5 minutes of driving and the ECT's are easily at least 200 and climbing while the EGT's are usually about 1-2 degrees higher than the ECT's.

did you mean EOT instead of EGT

if the deltas of the two have been that close the egr cooler should be ok

Sorry, yes, I meant EOT.
So is this okay for the temps to both be this much higher normal?
Surely something is causing this, and its not the 85 degree weather.

I keep my coolant leval 1 inch below the low mark on the coolant bottle
any higher and mine will do the same as wulfmans leak on the seem

I think ya nailed it david

If you think its getting hotter than it should you could try a new thermistate

So y'all aren't thinking it has something to do with the radiator, oil cooler, or egr?
The truck had gone through some pretty heavy mud before this started to happen, but its been pretty thoroughly cleaned since.

thats about how hot mine runs when its 85 degress out 200 ECT is not that bad

say with a blown head gasket ECTs are usually 10-15 degress hotter than EOTs

If it blew a EGR cooler youd have white smoke out the exhaust

you can get coolant test strips at the parts store to test for exhaust gas in coolant just to be shure

Im probably just worrying too much since the truck has had 3 blown heads and is out of warranty now.
I guess i'll replace the tstat and see how it goes.

just watch the coolant leval keep it at the low mark or just below it

If you do that and you still lose coolant then its time to start looking
