I am continuing to have problems with my 05 F350 w/ the 6.0 PSD. After having all the EGR, FCIM, etc. replaced (and having been broken down several times due to above), I thought the problems were over. Then, my truck began blowing out coolant through the reservoir cap. Dealer ran pressure check on system and replaced the cap. Next trip with cattle trailer, truck started to blow out coolant again through new cap. A 400 mile trip took 2 gallons of added coolant. I had put a programmer in on the conservative setting. Once I continued to loose coolant and overheat, I pulled the programmer out. Still blowing out coolant and fan roaring almost constantly.
I have now found a pinhole leak in the reservoir which accelerates the loss of coolant. Does anyone have an idea what may be causing the overpressurization in the cooling system?
Thanks,
There are more possibilities.
Stuck thermostat or broken pump impeller will overheat the engine and boil the coolant off.
Get infra-red thermometer and measure the exact temperatures when this happens.
I figured you would see oily signs on the engine if the head gasket were blown? As for measuring the temperature, it never gets hot around my home area, only when I am hooked up and on the interstate doing 70.
I read something about the engine oil cooler being clogged and causing this. Has anyone heard of this?
