Timing gear oil shield?

I have what looks like a timing gear oil shield in my timing gear parts bag. I can't for the life of me remember if it went on the crank snout between the spacer and crank gear, between the block and the timing gear, or fuel pump eccentric and cam gear. I would like to asemble this thing later this week but none of my books have it listed. With that being said do I really need it? I can add a picture if that helps. Thanks.

From what I remember they go between the spacer and crank gear...or in other words...they sit right up against the crank timing gear towards the front of the engine. Deen

Yes, Deen is correct. It goes on last thing before the timing cover and then the spacer goes on after the cover is on.

Good luck,
