Will a oil pan for a 460 fox body mustang (rear sump) work with my 78 F150 4X4 with stock suspension.

I don't think that it will. I am pretty sure that the sump will hit the differential.

The pan for the Mustang has a shallow front sump also, doesn't it? If so how deep is it? The stock front sump pans work with a suspension lift, although I wouldn't recommend it for off road use.

Yes it does have a 1qt front sump with a drain plug in it too. I wouldn't recommend using it on a truck.

Oil Pan

Isn't the oil pan for the 460 fox chassis a oil pan from a van or 4x4 p/u with a 460? I think I have a part number for the swap pan out in the garage if it would help.

Classic79, the van pan didn't have a front sump with a drain plug, not that I ever remember anyway. I use to go to a dealer and purchase everything seperate, the pan, pickup tube dipstick and tube and the studded main stud. Lately, I had a guy tell me you can buy everything in a kit from the Ford Performance catalog, I looked and the kit I seen was for the Mustang, didn't have any mention about the 70's era trucks. What have you all seen?
