Tranny/electrical problem???
The transmission had trouble shifting into second--higher than normal RPM before shift and a hard shift too boot.
At the same time, the speedometer conked out and the driver's side window stopped working. After shutting off the engine, the window operation was normal, but did the same thing again when I test drove.
It rained fairly hard most of the day--wondering if damp electrical may be to blame.
Any ideas or suggestions? I'm flummoxed.
Thanks in advance.

The speedo problem is why the shifting was harsh and at too high rpm. Without a working speedo signal the transmission isnt getting told when to shift properly.
When you drove it later again was the speedo working? Just the window that didnt?
I'm glad I found this place. What a resource!
The speedo problem/hard shift persisted during my test.
I saw a thread in the tranny section that sounded similar to my problem--the problem in that case was a bad speed sensor.
I'm hoping that is what is going on with our Expedition.
If you or anyone else has any suggestions or tips, I'd be glad to hear them.
Thanks again.
