gearbox advice

hi all,
i have purchased a 95 f-150 engine & gearbox for my 56,it`s a 351 windsor with a e4aod.the problem is i can`t lower the engine anymore & the cab floor needs to be cut.was wondering if i should change out the gearbox for maybe a 4l65e as the e4aod is such a large box.have really only 2 concerns, the sheer size of it & how much power it will take to run it.
any advice or input welcome.

Yup, the E4OD is a monster.

BUT, they are not cheap, and if it's a good trans, you should be able to sell it for a good chunk of change.

Serving suggestion would be a beefed AOD. Not much bigger than a C4 and it has OD.

Will recheck and add more info if you are interested in going that way. Gotta hit the trail....

gearbox advice

thanks 85e150six4mtod my gearbox is a very low milage unit, will try & sell it & rethink what to run in it`s place.think a later model gm unit with an adapter plate may work,as this will negate the need for a tv cable.
thanks for taking the time to reply.

Some if not all 700Rs need a TV cable also:

JMO, but the hassle and expense ($443.95 at PATCO) of an adaptor, plus having to deal with the GM TV cable, speedo cable, mounts etc, would be more work and hassle than dealing with an AOD.

AOD Transmission from PATC, AOD Transmissions
