Anybody tried any of the aftermarket tow mirrors that are out? Any likes/dislikes?

I have aftermarket tow mirrors with the defrosters off flea bay. $160 for the pair. They're telescopic. Looks like OEM. Works ok. No complaints.

Do you know what brand they are? I seen some mixed reviews on the kool vue mirrors - some were complaining about vibrations on the passenger side. none of the reviews were for the super duty/excursions models though.

I saw some 2010 tow mirrors on ebay for an outrageous amount. I was wondering the same thing.

There are a lot of us on this forum with the aftermarket tow mirrors and I have not heard of any problems. Just do a search and you should find several threads. I really like mine and have had no problems.

I have the Kool Vue tow mirrors, power and defrost and like them very much. They even came with the adapter for the older models to go from the rectangular gray plug on the mirror to the white round plug on the older Ex's. I didn't need it (mine's an '04) but it was a bonus they were included.

FWIW...I have had aftermarket mirrors on my Ex (telescoping) for many years...I did have some "wobble" issues with the first set due to how the mirrors were mounted but the seller on Ebay sent me a new set that had a new mounting technique (chance luck BTW that I found out about that)...

So while the aftermarket mirrors are significantly less expensive...they can and do have wobble issues as I experienced. However my replacement set have been fine for many years...the mirror glass does move slightly at highway speeds sometimes (not constantly) due to gusts/etc...but overall I am pleased with these and I spent well over 1/2 what the OEM ones were.

Mine are power and heated without turn signals...I have NO IDEA what brand/mfg they are though.

Would I do it again today?...I believe I would go this route over the OEM's again.

Joe.

I have the ebay Kool-Vue heated/power tow mirrors. The ones I have only fold back, not forward and back. Other than that they are fine, I have no complaints with them. I do have the '08 mirrors on my shopping list though.

My Kool Vue mirrors fold both ways and came in the Kool Vue box so I was sure they were genuine. (yeah I know genuine generic replacement parts) I got mine from partstrain instead of ebay because with an online coupon (search for one) I got the set for $171.11 total including shipping. Since they are a dealer for Kool Vue, I figured it was a safe bet and I'd have someone to call if there was a problem.

That paid off because one of them was damaged in shipping so they sent me a new one ASAP. Since they did not want the damaged one back, I repaired it and now have a spare.

I ordered FD79ER and FD79EL which included the adapter for newer model wiring.
