A/C troubles

Hi guys we went camping this past weekend. I was running my AC unit during the day then at night I shut it off and just ran my fan. The next morning was pretty cold so I shut off the fan and noticed my compressor was still running. With the thermostat off and no fan on. The only way I could shut down my compressor was to shut off the breaker any ideas?

stuck relay in the thermostat?

My older TT I took apart a number of times to clean the contacts.

Don't know yours is designed but myself I would start there.

See if you can take the cover off of the thermostat.

Usually the cover just come off. Maybe a screw or two. My old one that I was referring to just popped off.

ok thanks now I forgot to mention if you adjust the thermostat to where the fan comes on it will, does that make any difference? Like if its 75 in camper and you put thermostat on 71 the fan will come on by itself but no matter what you do the compressor keeps running.

I have no idea but I think I will still pull the cover off and have a look at it.

I suppose you could also go up top and pull the cover off the AC unit and have a look around as well.

we used our brand new camper last weekend and had a similar expierence. We turned on the furnace and set the tstat to furnace mode. but even when the furnace turned on and was blowing heat from the floor register, so was the A/C unit blowing cold air out of the ceiling vents. I didnt have time to look at it so I just shut the A/C breaker off?????

Well got it fixed this weekend was a bad controller in the unit itself right under or over the air filter. Big silver box with lots and lots of wires wasnt to bad thought to replace and works great now :-) they told me a relay was stuck and only way to fix it was the whole box.
