Successful maintenance day.

After having the truck sit in the garage all winter I figured it was time to do a fluidectomy on the truck. We've only had it a year and without knowing any of it's previous maintenance history I thought I'd get everything to a "base line" where I know what's been done.

Took it out to a buddy's and we started with the transmission fluid/filter and were happy to see a pretty clean pan.

Next was the differential. Again, no issues and put a fresh coat of paint on the cover.

Oil change of course.

Had a very careful look at the exhaust manifold studs and to my relief they were all there with what looks like antiseize on the exposed threads

Ran out of time to do a coolant swap, so that'll come soon.

Very glad to have a clean slate for this season's towing schedule.

Only thing I noticed that was the tranny temp on my Scanguage seems to be reading a bit higher than it was before the new fluid. Up from about 140* to 150* in town. Will keep an eye on it.

Sorry to bore you all with the details, but for an electrician this is a pretty serious day of greasy stuff

Cheers.

That antiseize might be wear grease from loose hardware.

Nope, everything's tight.
Not sure what 'wear grease' is, but whenever I replace hardware at work (pretty much heavy-duty mechanic stuff) I always coat the remaining threads with antiseize to keep any moisture from wicking up into the threads the nut is clinging to.
