Hey y'all, I have a 400M in a 1973 ford f100 4x4. Over the past 2 weeks its been shaking hard when first starting it up and going. It shakes hard and cuts out. Once I get into drive it will shake hard when I accelerate and cut out, until I reach a higher gear, which i have to restart it 10 times to get to because it shakes hard and cuts out when I accelerate. But today I tried to start it up and it only lasted 5 seconds and while it did it was motorboating harder than usual and shaking, and i was only at Idle. What should I do?
check plugs and leads, check rotor is spinning, check coil connections, coil condition...
check needle and seats and float level, check your idle mixture, check idle speed set screw
check your air filter isn't 100yrs old and filled with ****, and there's not anything else blocking air getting to it
that should be a good start anyway... from there it's things like ignition timing, checking all your earth cables etc etc, all the fiddly ****. good luck.
