What makes a Leader.

Please the "Letter of the Day"

http://www.canoe.ca/TorontoSun/editorial.html

Further to this story.

What has the Canadian Government done?

Well, Last week they un-veiled a Bronze plaque about 24" x 30"with the names of the victims on it.

This little plaque hangs on the wall in the chapel of a building near the House Of Parliament.

What makes a Leader.

A national leader like "our president " should have the foresight to lead us the U.S. into the next century not back to the last. Now I 'm not saying he's a bad person I think he is a well intended person. An he has a lot of company both Republican and Demacrats. We as a nation have known for 30 years that oil was a huge flaw in our economay. They have all failed us the U.S. We have to rid ourselves of this burden called oil. They including W. maybe especially W. has refused to lead us the U.S. into the future.

I know that there are more things that make a leader but one thing that comes to mind is LACK OF A FRENCH ACCENT.

I guess that's why Bush is pushing the development of the fuel cell? I didn't think that was a step backwards.

I respectfuly disagree. President Bush talks about the future of the United States in almost every speech he makes. What would the future hold for us if we let terrorists get away with murder? What would the future hold for us if we let these people who hate American and it's values hold us hostage with threats of chemical, biological or perhaps even nuclear attack? A few major attacks on our cities, infrastructure, food and water supplies, will bring this country to a stand still. These terrorists come from countries that believe in a system that does not want progress, equal rights and freedom of religion or freedom of anything. Their system is based on a strict set of rules of submission and control.

But the future doesn't happen overnight. Before we can travel down the road to a better future, the road must first be cleared and repaired. Obstructions must first be removed and a course of action set in place. I believe we have a decisive leader who is setting up a course of action to lead us down that road. One who knows he is accountable to the American public for his actions and will take responsibility for them. A leader who knows he is also held accountable to a higher authority, just like all of us are, and strives to make decissions based not on political correctness or personal pride, but based on what is right and what is good.

As far as oil goes, oil is not the problem. Greed and the love of money is the problem. "For the love of money is the root of all evil". Oil is just a natrual resource and it can be used for good or evil just like anything else. I fail to see how one can blame oil for the cause of any problems we may have. A pool of oil does nothing. The flaw lies in the heart of man.

Dear Mr. Mobeydick

It seems ironic that after all the years of Democratic presidential leadership with the exact same policy on Iraq, you feel the oil predicament is President Bush's foot dragging. Interesting.

Mr. Bush has talked about Fuel Cells. But that is all he's done. He needs to stand up to his oil buddys and force it down there throat. And our thoat.

I don't think I left out the Dems. did I. They are just as copable in our delima. I do think that the Reps. being pro buisness and all should understand that changing to a differant kind of fuel technology would drive our nation's economy for the next 30 years. An by the way If we all would learn to conserve 5% of the wasted energy in this country we could almost eliminate the need for all foreign oil. we would also be more productive and we would have less polution.
Dailydriver
He does talk about our future but he does nothing to lead us into it. I've said nothing about letting terrorist get away with mass murder! Let me see 18 out of 19 Terrorist on 9/11/01 were Saudis The first group that attacked the towers were Saudis and Eguipians. The Kobain towers bombimg in Saudi Arabi. Now if we were bombing ths Saudis I would be jumping for joy. I cannot think of one terrorist attack that a Iraqi has been implacated. Makes you think doesn't it.
I don't know how old you are but do you remember the Cold War. We the U.S. and The Soveit Union held the whole world hostage.
Now as for who these people that want to attack us. If We would just let them starve to death I would not shed a tear. You have to think they live in a desert it will only support so much life. If we stopped buying that oil. they could not support themselves. I support no group that would feed or help in any way the life of a muslim. As a Christian I can only support my own religion.
As for a road into the future Mr. Bush must believe it goes throuht Afganistan. In June of 2001 he sent a emiasary to the Talaban He wanted to get Haliburtian a contract for an oil pipeline across the teritory. The Talaban refused and the emiasary got Bush to pony up 47 million in Humanatrian aid as some grease. The Talaban took the money but then reniged on the pipeline. The emiasary told Mula Ormar he could have the pipeline or he could have a "carpet of bombs".
A lot of people don't listen to the news but I'm kinda a news hound. Now I'm not saying Bush is responceable for 911 But he sure as hel didn't have his eyes open. When you threaten someone you look at all sides when your done.
I have no problem with greed it is what has driven our country for 200 years. Oil on the other hand is something that in 10 years if we had a LEADER we could do without. The flaws lie in the heart and MIND of man.
It looks like I'm to conseritive for all ya'll. As a hunter I go into the woods and see the polution that oil has caused.
And the money that we pay to these Terrorist for there oil has all the blame for our current situation.
On a personal side I drive a F250 PSD I would gladly pay $5.00 a gal. so not one american drop of blood would be traded for one billion barrels of oil. It's just not worth it to me.
If Sadom had no oil he would not have weapons. If we stop using oil he and all those Dune Coons Can drink as much oil as they can pump.

I think that is what is bugging you. Oil is a very good energy source and I for one have no problem burning it and using it. Even if we use fuel cell cars, the information I read says that oil will play a role with them as well.

If dependance on oil is what is getting you, then why don't we develop the oil we have here? Like the oil in the Gulf of Mexico? But we don't because of a few that are threatned by it.

I talked to a engineer that used to work for Amoco and he did a lot of exploring for oil in Alaska and other remote places (Russia). He mentioned that there is so much oil in the world, the only reason you have price hikes is because of goverment meddling. There is enough oil to supply energy to the world for some time to come and there is nothing wrong with using it.

I would draw a parallel to food. There is enough food to feed the world. But you have starvation wherever goverments restrict it's distrubution to their people (Hello North Korea).

I think that whatever energy source you come up with, no matter how cheap, will be manipulated. But I do not lay the blame at our President's feet (past and current).

i would respectfully dissagree. Oil isn't all that great of a power source. its fairly dirty, and has quite a few negative draw backs including but not limited to danger of transporting it, enviromental damage tapping it and so forth. While i don't plan on selling my gas guzzling beast anytime soon, i do think that fuel cells are something to be explored. I'm the first to admit that i don't like President Bush. But i do think that in this time of war we should pull together as a country, republican or democrat, christian or muslim, man or woman and support our comander a& chief. Besides auto manufactuers are consumer driven....if we all want fuel cells...why not let them know?.
