Help

Just fitted a mk2 mustang crossmember and a new IFS wondered if anybody out there could help me as I am having a bit of trouble with the springs I think I might have the wrong length the ones I have are nearly14" long and even once they are compressed they sill are pushing everything down HELP!!!!!! Dave





and when it all goes down the top swinging arm locks the spindle solid

Put the wheels on the truck and put weight on the suspension. It will probably be OK when weight is applied. Most front suspension rest like this without weight. Using a shorter spring will make the vehicle sit too low with the weight applied.

Also, install the shock absorber. See if that doesn't keep it from dropping so low.

The shock absorber is the normal limiting device as Effie said. Whose kit are you using? Not a lot of bracing on it.

It can take a couple of months for the springs to settle after you start diving it, some people use all-thread rod in place of the shocks while building to hold everything in place and pre-compress the springs.

What brand kit is that? It will be very difficult for you to determine whether or not the spring will work until all the weight is on the truck. The manufacturer of my kit told me to not even bother with the springs or shocks until the entire weight is on the truck. I'm using setup rods in the meantime. It's just way too much pressure on the ball joints until you get the truck completed.
