Dies after running.

I'm out of ideas! My '85 F150 HO dies after running it on the freeway for 10 minutes. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter- well it had an original brass cartridge style and I changed to a fram screw-in type. It will idle great all day long but as soon as I take it on the freeway it will bog down just like its running out of gas and I have to re-start it several times and drive at 25 mph on a surface street to get home. What is going on?

how fresh is the carb? It might have a float that likes to stick. have you tried to inspect what quality of fuel is coming out of the tank? maybe the pickup is clogged.

is this a computer-controlled carburetor? That sounds like limp-home mode....

You might be pulling air into the fuel line before the fuel pump.

I would suspect your Catalytic converters if your saying its fine all day idling around town and such. I assume its quite hard to start after it shuts down on you? If its feasible unbolt the H-pipe from the manifolds and see if that solves the problem. If so its most likely the cats. Does your temperature gauge work?
