Fuel Air Mixture

I have a 93 f150 302 with an AODE. My truck has been pinging alot at low rpms. Need to know what is the cause of this. It has about 118,000 on the moter. Does it need to be rebuilt or just a good tune up and if there is anything that i can do to stop it from pinging. I am farly good with moters so any thing that is not to hard i can do.
Thanks all
Rudy

I was reading the Haynes Manual for something else and I came upon something about the knock sensor. My truck has been pinging too when I get on it. I thought It was crappy oxygenated fuel so I have been using mid grade fuel. The manual goes into the whole explanation about how to test and explains what it does(adjusts the timing). This could be a place to start.

Pull the code & see what the computer says is the problem. You might need to replace the HEGO or FPR.

Have you checked the timing? It should be set at 10 degrees with the SPOUT disconnected. Have you done anything to it recently? Plug wires? If they arent routed correctly you can get pinging due to crossfiring.
