FUEL GAUGE

89 F-150 WITH TWO TANKS. UP UNTIL two weeks ago the tanks & gauges worked correct. now when i turn on the back tank the gauge goes past full & i know it is only about a 1/4 full. any guess to the problem. thanks

Open (or shorted) circuit to real fuel tank float sensor.

or the float went bad and sank

I'm having the same problem in my rear tank. Pumps bad but before that it just pegged over full when switched over. So I pulled m buddy's new pump and sending unit out in the process of swapping as I type. If still off. Were would I check at? I'm lost on fuel systems
