Was 1991 a bad year for green paint or what? My Bronco looks like it has leprosy all over the front of the hood! If I buff out the spots and remove the old, flaking paint, should I try to match the color or just repaint the whole truck? The rest of the truck isn't bad and the paint looks fine except up front. Any input would be appreciated!!
Don't feel too bad, my 91 F150 has a bad paint peeling problem on the hood too!
Mine is the silver which is known to peel badly. Like yours, my whole truck looks great, except for the hood. The top layer of the paint just peels and blisters off. The primer under it is bulletproof.
I'll have to get her painted soon though, there isn't much paint left!
I had an 87 f-150 that had the same paint peeling problem on the rear of the bed sides. it looked like an appeloosa horse
somewhere caughtup in the cobwebs of the back of my brain I seem to remeber a recall or tsb regarding paint adhesion issues with the Ford truck line. at any rate I see alot of blue ovals with primer showing.

If your truck is still pretty otherwise, then you should probably get a pro to either match the body paint, or reshoot the whole thing. If you go all the way, don't feel like you HAVE to stick with OE color - get what you want!
If it's a work/play truck, just strip it & touch it up yourself. You'll be doing it again next time you go off-roading or bump into something, so no biggee.
The primer is the problem, not the paint. To completely cure the problem you have to remove the primer, which means you take the truck down to bare metal and redo the primer coat. Not a cheap process.
Ford repainted by '90 Bronco under warranty in 1994 because of this problem.
