I have a 06 F350 SRW FX4 and was looking for a leveling kit to raise the front end up a hair. when i looked under the fender it looks like there is already a spacer on top of the spring. it has a ford name on it. is this fro the factory or put on later. does the spacer you buy to do the lift go on the top or the bottom of the coil spring?
The spacer you are talking about is the stock spacer. There are a few different ways to level it out. Depends how much money you want to spend. There is a 2.5 inch spacer that goes on top of the coils that replaces the factory spacer you are talking about. DayStar makes them and they are around 100 bucks. Then there are replacement coils that are longer and level it off. Superlift or Skyjacker makes them (around $250-275). Finally, there are metal leveling spacers that go under the lower coil seat (under the coil spring). Rough Country and a few others make these type kits. Rough Country's site says $100. It's not a difficult job and looks a lot better leveled!
sounds good your answer is what i was looking for. think i will go with the daystar spacer. i agree with you they look alot better. im also looking at getting new wheels and been trying to figure out what back spacing i will need. the leveling kit should get the fenders up and out of the way for the 35s.
Yeah, I ran 18" moto metal 951s and 35x12.50s. Just might have to do a minor trim to the front bumper and she'll be good to go!.. Again, no worries, its an easy project. Unbolt the shocks, sway bar links and brake line bracket and the whole front end lowers. Swap out the spacers and she's ready to roll! Takes bout an hour.
i bought mine off of ebay for 79 bucks. it wasnt a brand name but it is built sturdy! i didnt have to get longer shocks but chose to. i think either 4 wheel parts or xdp has a 4 shock deal for 100 bucks. get a 0 offset. it will make them stick out right to the fender. not over nor inside they are perfect
I started a thread like this over in the super duty section. I will be ordering a 2.5" spacer kit tomorrow and installing it by next weekend so I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not going with the longer shocks I think I'll be fine. Some people say you need an adjustable track bar or track bar drop bracket, but I'm not doing that either lol

i have already ordered the wheels this morning and ordered with a 4.5 offset. wish i would have read your post before i ordered them. think i will just deal with it and see how it looks when i get them.
i will be looking at more spacers and i think i need new shocks anyway. just aint sure what shocks i want to go with. i will be looking around to see whats out there. i dont do any real real heavy towing so i shouldnt need the adjustable shocks. but i think i may go with the rancho shocks.
I didnt put longer shocks on there when I leveled it. Kept the stock Rancho shocks on there. It wasn't leveled very long before I went higher though. 6 inch lift, then 8.5 Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get some longer shocks so you don't have to worry about anything.
My lift is a Pro Comp lift so I went with their shocks too. No complaints, and they aren't too pricey. Look at 4wheel parts or National Tire and Wheel. Wanna say they were like $35-$40 a piece.

0 offset is the same thing as 4.5" backspacing if you got 9" wheels. Your wheels will fit fine.
the wheels i ordered are 20x10 with the 4.5 offset. how much do you think they will stick out
I'm sure you mean 4.5" backspace. Backspace and offset are two different things. For example, a 10" wheel with 0 offset has about 5" backspace; a 9" wheel with 0 offset has about 4.5" backspace.
A 10" wheel with 4.5" backspace means that you have 5.5" of wheel going the other way. They will probably stick out close to one inch, not too big of a deal. Just make sure that you have clearance with the lower valance when turning.
you are right. i just looked at the wheels again online and it is backspace. i hope it clears it. i think it should. it has the stock 20" wheels on it running the stock tire size which i think is equal to a 34 inch tire. if my memory is correct. looking at the wheel and tire on the truck i think i should not have a problem with the new ones wraped with 35" tires. thats also why i was looking at a leveling kit
here is a link to the wheels i ordered if you want to take a look at them.
