D44 locking hubs are 3.25" diameter, and D50/D60 locking hubs are 4" diameter.
I always tell people to ID the front axle in a 80+ ford, measure hubs. 3.25" = D44. 4" = look underneath to see if it bends in the middle, Yes = D50, no = D60. Pretty accurate system, so long as it hasn't had a bunch of modding/swapping done over the years......
i want to get a lift for the truck and i want to loosen up the ride a little. will a lift for a f250 same year fit on the same?
You had better stay stock if you want to keep your ride. A lift will make it stiffer, and larger tires and wheels makes it ride rougher and kills your fuel mileage. But, if your truck is original with the dana 50 front axle, a f250 kit should fit it.
