would a box off of a 80-97 model ford work if it was mounted on the inside of the frame and i made a draglink that ran from the pitman arm to the tierod where the old hydrolic ram was?
I can't say for certain but i'm sure with some fabrication and know how almost anything can be made to work, the 78/79 power box is the donor most use for that swap.
im in the middle of the converion right now and i have mounted a saginaw box like that one on the frame. it is off a 80 suburban 4x4. im having problems with the tires rubbing when i turn the wheels to the right. i think where i messed up was when i put a 3/8" plate behind it. my box is also mounted at an angle. what would you recomend i do to fix the tire rubbing.

That's one of the reasons the 78/79 power box, even though it requires some fabrication work, is the preferred unit for this swap, no tire clearance issues.
i had a 75 highboy w manual steering i changed it over to a 79 f350 power steering box we had to cut a peice of the crossmember out to get it to work but i boxed it bk in w 1/4 in steel but about an hour of fab work u can get it done n have all the clearance u need because it sets inside the frame thats what i would do again if i had to do it
