elec problem , too tired to think

I just replaced my 2 batteries, the positive cable and the starter today.

I went to hook the batteries back up and it started to arc.

It is hot and I cant think straight.

Is the positive battery to connect to the positive on the other battery and both grounds ground?

That is how I have it and it is arcing.

The starter was an easy hook up as I connected the wires before I mounted the starter.

I missed work today due to this and really need to getter dun.

That is right.. positive to positive..ground to ground.. You didn't install one of the battery backwards.?

I bet it's something simple that you just overlooked. Did you maybe set your battery into the tray backwards? That would definitely cause some arcing if ya hooked it up that way
