I just had the hood and roof of my F-350 repainted because the original was destroyed by the AZ. sun. The shop said to wax it after a month but all the "waxes" available here are cleaner waxes that I don't want to use. They also told me to use a "clear coat safe" wax. What is a clear coat safe wax? Nu-Finish states it won't scratch clear coat but nothing else. I don't expect a good protectorant to be particularly easy to apply, I just want a good product that will protect my investment.. Thanks a bunch..
The Cleaner in the wax is just a polish. It's okay to use and much faster than a multi-step wax system. I prefer the look of Mother's 3 phase over any single coat wax, but it involves applying and remove 3 coats.
As far as protectants, a moly based polish will add a layer of oxygen barrier. Then keep a good coat of wax on top. I have seen waxes with UV protection, but I don't recall which ones.
For what your looking for, I would suggest looking at Mother's Synth or FX line, or Meguires equivalent. It's hard to go wrong with either brand. If you want expensive, high end look at Zainos waxes, but unless it's a black show vehicle it's kind of over kill.
