Well, I parked my new truck on the wrong side of my driveway and got water spots all over one side from the sprinkler system in the yard. Our water is pretty hard here and it dried before I knew about it. Anyway, I now have faint white spots all down the pass side of the truck. I have washed and waxed twice with no change. Even the chrome step bars have outlines of the water drops that won't come off with windex or anything else. I'm sure taking some Meguires scratch repair to it would do the trick, but not sure if it's a good idea and KNOW it would be too time consuming.
i would try some spray glass cleaner with ammonia spray on and wipe it off. it will take the wax off all the way to the clear coat so you will have to re wax the truck but should take care of the water spots.
On my boat I use a mix in a spray bottle water and white vinegar mix it 50/50. We also use it on the jet skis. Works great!
Thanks. I think I will give that a try. We've used straight vinegar to clean faucets, pots, pans, etc. and it takes it right off. I'll try the 50/50 mixture and see what happens.
Try using a clay bar made by Meguire's or another major brand. They're in the car wax section of most stores. This should do the trick and is safe for the paint, not sure of the other methods. It'll get ride of most unwanted blemishes or light scratches. I use the clay bar before I wax my vehicles and it leaves the paint completely smooth to the touch.
