over drive
I have a 06 6.0 f-450 that i toe a 18000 pound gooseneck trailer the truck toes the trailer with no problem but the fuel mileage sucks.I get about 9 mpg the truck is a automatic with 4.88 rear do they make a over drive unit for my truck?

You already have overdrive, but the tall gears are resulting in higher RPM's. A splitter like the gear vendors unit will provide better economy unloaded, but you'd probably never use it with your trailer as you'll be lugging the engine out of it's power band. 9mpg towing 18k doesn't sound bad to me. Heck my V10 F550 barely gets that empty.

WTF? Your getting 9mpg while towing an 18000 lb. trailer? You must be joking. That's amazing mpg for that much weight. Why do people expect to get high mpgs while towing extremely heavy things?

I agree. I doubt I'll get that when I tow my new camp trailer this summer.
By the way Joe Doyle, your truck already has overdrive.
