just got an 07 f150 super cab today. it has the 4.6 v8, and im loving it so far. the power seems pretty good, but is there anything i can do to up the horsepower/torque? thanks
Congrats on the new truck.
For more HP & TQ you really should look into a hand held programmer with custom tunes.
Mike Butler @ 5 Star Tuning is a sponsor here. He tunes with SCT devices. Short wait time with great customer service. http://www.5startuning.com/
Also the guys @ Power Hungry Performance can get you setup on an Edge device converted to "Gryphon". http://www.powerhungryperformance.com/
Either is a good choice.
If you want more info about the tunes...I have a thread about 5 Star. You should be able to find it with a search
That is going to be the best and cheapest in the long run. The other routes would be to go with a new exhaust system from headers back and a supercharger kit or larger gears to help push you easier.
The tuner would be the cheapest and you get so many other benefits from one. Something I will be doing soon myself.
I've got a 4.6, like they said, a programmer is your best bet. I bought an Edge and it does make a good amount of difference.
I've also changed the clutch fan out for dual 16" e-fans, and have true duals, no headers yet. Not a whole lot of difference there though
A supercharger is out of the question as noone has made a kit for the 04-08 4.6 F150s and I've yet to see anybody with a custom rig for it yet
Very little aftermarket products are available for these, so often it's a matter of good ole' ingenuity. I'd just go for an Edge, maybe a Gryphon tune for the best bang for buck, I just can't stop modding though lol
