computer problems

85 f150 302 efi- i went out and bought a code reader to try and pull some codes to see if it would tell me what my problem is. nothing. it won't pull anything. i can only figure there's a problem with the eec or the relays. is there anyway to test the eec module to see if it's good before i replace it?

Look at your starter relay. There should be a yellow wire with a fusible link. This yellow wire should run over to the computer relay, and also keep going in through the firewall to the computer. Make sure this yellow wire has 12 volts on it. Also I seem to remember several guys on here who had computer problems, and there was a small ground wire coming off the negative battery terminal, that always seemed to corrode in two, and this little ground wire was the ground for the computer.

Take the scanner back & get your money back. All you need is a paperclip & maybe a 12V test light. The Haynes manual has the best description of how to do it, but my code list is more complete.
