hey ya'll, just finished gettin my new project all road worthy and stuff. part of it was changing out the whole fuel pump/sending unit on the rear tank (the front tank work just fine except for the gauge). After I put it in it ran fine for the first few days I took it out, i dont drive i everyday because gas is so dang expensive. almost forgot. its a 92 f350, SD fuel injected 460, E40D, 4x4. Anyway the rear tank will work for anywhere from 5-20 mins, and all day parked and idleing, but when i take off from a light it'll sputter and almost die. If i switch it over to the front tank it immediatly runs fine. Also it seems to get worse around a quater tank, but will do it even if its full. When i dropped the rear tank to change everything the was a little bit of crap on the bottom of the tank, and the shop I was is cant recycle old gas so I just left it in there, i'm almost sure thats the problem, but why would it idle fine and only sputter and die when I take off? Any suggestions?
HEY NWEBBE1079 I HAVE A 96 F250 W/ VERY SIMILAR ISSUES EXCEPT MINE IS REVERSED FRONT TANK IS SAME BUT MINE DOES IT AFTER I HAVE BEEN RUNNIN IT AWHILE AND IF I SHUT IT OFF AND LET IT KOOL OFF IT WILL BE FINE. BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN EARLEY DECEMBER AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM TIL IT STARTED TO WARM UP, MAY MECHANIC SAYS ITS COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY OVERHEAT I AM NOT ALL THAT COMFORTABLE WITH SOMETHING SITTIN IN THE FUEL TANK OVERHEATING. NOT SURE IF HE IS RIGHT BUT JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THE INFO. NOT MUCH HELP I KNOW.
