Figure out your posting problem and get the pictures posted on your other thread. Then we'll all "ooooohhh" and "aaaaahhhhhh" and tell you what a good deal it is and how we certainly wish we could buy it, etc. Then show the thread to her and tell her that a group of "experts" are telling you that it's a good investment, very enjoyable, can be a bonding (yeah right) experience between you and her, etc. (In the meantime, get yourself a cot and maybe a little refrigerator for your garage, shed, etc. because she'll probably make you use it at some point). Then, when all else fails, explain to her that you didn't go out and buy an $80,000 Corvette or Mustang (but don't tell her that you could very well have that much invested by the time you finish it someday). If that fails, just throw a tarp over it and hide it.
Ask her if she wouldn't rather have you at home in the garage doing something productive like working on an old truck than out raising hell at the bars and honky tonks...
had a mustang before this gf, the can ran 11.90 in the quarter and lost about 7 grand on that deal but i built it myself. dont plan on selling this truck if i get it.
I told mine it was for my son.But she knows I just like old stuff and her dad drove rust cans all the time hauling old junk to their house.so she is used to it.
Just tell her it a good investment.
A truck pays for itself.
My wife told me to buy the 56!
The 55 parts truck I 'needed' to get the necessary parts for the 56. I dunno if she'll ever suggest me buying an old project again...
Forgiveness over permission here, too. But depending on the size of your yard, you could have it brought there when she's not home. Put it out back in the treeline, and when she asks about it, proclaim you knew nothing of it, that the previous homeowner left it there, but it looks to be in good shape, and that it should be rebuilt, and how a project like that would be fun, and that it's worth more finished, than as scrap, so on so forth.
When I got "ours" i told my wife it only needed a few things, when i took her for a test ride i couldnt stop, couldent steer, and it caaught on fire under the dash ,Ha Ha' it wasnt pretty, but its grown on her, I promissed her not to ship parts to work anymore, to hide the fact that i bought them, and now to leave it to her if i die first, that was about 9 years ago. yes it has definetly grown on her, she loves it. Good luck
