New Leafs!

I'm working with a spring company in Fresno that makes spring packs and I have a quick question. I told him that I want the stiffest pack they have(1875lb) and he also offered up an add-a-leaf option(additional 800lb) on top of it. My question is how much is too much. I don't want to be riding on rocks.

Thanks for the help!

Thoose numbers are too low I think...
V code fronts are 5200 lbs
super duty rears are even higher like 6000 plus lbs.

I agree with LL above. The stock V-10 C codes are rated at 3680lbs, PSD D codes are 4080lbs, U's are 4800lbs, V's are 5200lbs and X's are 6000lbs. So even if your guy is giving ratings on the individual spring packs instead of by the set like Ford does his spring set is comming in at only 3750lbs, pretty much what came stock on a V-10 (lame).
Is he making up EX "replacement" packs? That may explain whats going on here, if his "book" has him duplicating an EX's springs instead of the heavier Superduty packs. Might wanna ask about that, otherwise things don't seem to add up.

Ya, looking back I may be misquoting the numbers but they do seem low even with the add-a-leaf that he brought up. To top it off he quoted me $360/ea for the rears and $260/ea for the fronts so I think I'm going to pass. I found a place, by reference from a friend, that I can get NEW V/B leafs for $700 plus shipping. Now, I just need the $700 + $500 for the install to just magically appear in my wallet.

Don't forget to add all the incidentals also, new u bolts, possible blocks for the back.

That install price is insane. I'm not much of a mechanic and I installed on my own in about 8 hrs front and back springs. You could always see if someone from fte in your area is willing to lend a hand.

The install price is @ $85/hour so I feel it's pretty fair. There are certain things that I'm definitely willing to pay someone to do for me.

I also paid someone to do my recent spring swap. I usually like to install most things myself, but with the weight of the Ex and lack of a lift, I was more than happy to pay someone else to do it.

Have you checked out Husky Spring? You can order by Ford Spring code to get exactly what you want.
